INDWELLING

WEEK ONE, DAY FIVE, COMMON ENGLISH BIBLE COMPANION

THEME: READING THE BIBLE

DAY FIVE TITLE: CHANGE COMES

SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 4:12-13

SCRIPTURE SNIPPET: …”because God’s word is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword.  It penetrates to the point that it separates the soul from the spirit, and the joints from the marrow.”

THOUGHTS: This insight into God’s word tells it all.  We can run but we cannot hide.  As I  gain more and more access to the mind and heart of God through His word, I know more and more about myself and how I am to move and behave in God’s world.  God’s word gets straight to the matter of everything digging down to the most intimate thoughts and fears and giving light and hope in all of our living.  When I may be inclined to ignore God’s thoughts about my living, my living becomes stagnant until once again I begin to listen and to obey.  At that point also, I am guilty and stand in judgment.

God wants so desperately to be in my life, moving in and through me for me, but also for the benefit of others as I allow myself to become more and more of His vessel, trusting His thoughts that come reeling forward in my thoughts about items of concern or want or need or for others.  To allow myself to feel silly for becoming spiritual in all matters is to close the door on all hope and progress.  As I have understood God along my whole life, it has been about inviting Him into my life to live in my heart – the most central, life-giving part of my physical being.  But the action is not just for the lips to speak, but for the whole of me to let in and let go.  Studying God’s word continually gives me more and more understanding as more and more light is shed in all kinds of scriptures when they are read with an open mind and heart and truly searching for God in them.  A change does begin to happen as my efforts to release all of life into God’s hands and trust Him through His word and His presence in my life.

It is subtle, but suddenly I find myself leaning into what I have believed or tried to believe all my life.  In response to my trusting more and more personally and privately, I find it “leaking” out when someone trusts me with an issue or concern. I bring them into this trust and whether physically or onesidedly, begin journeying with them.  It has been rewarding to know that your nudges are real and that following them brings God’s presence into the situation at hand too.  It is overwhelming to keep speaking your truths based on God’s word as encouragement to others.  It is exciting to see answers to issues and concerns coming into fruition and how God has used a journey for the utmost good for more good to come.  It is hard when the journey keeps expressing more concerns and issues that its had to keep up with praying diligently and being physically present for the other.  But that God calls on us for specific purposes in specific times is amazing.  As I am able to see / experience more, I see even more to learn and do.  The journey is endless, Thank God.  The journey is for good and not harm.  God surprises me at every turn and gives me that one extra umph right when I don’t think I can’t do a particular thing.

The Holy Spirit is at work and God is good and I want to be a vessel all along the way for whoever God chooses to put into my path.  Thanks be to God for the might and majesty of his Word!

DIP: It is overwhelming to keep speaking your truths based on God’s word as encouragement to others.  It is exciting to see answers to issues and concerns coming into fruition and how God has used a journey for the utmost good for more good to come.
